VANILLA PLANIFOLIA

ORCHID

At Turtles Bakeree, the key to our success, and the reason our customers keep coming back to us can be attributed to our care and attention to selecting the best ingredients. We believe it all begins with our special vanilla extract recipe.

After realizing just how good our vanilla extract was, we decided that we needed to bottle it and share it with all of you. We are pleased to announce that we are officially in the vanilla extract producing business! We believe our specially crafted recipe gives us a a competitive advantage as most bakeries use store bought extract, which varies in quality and price dramatically. Some even think artificial extract is the way to go - yuck! Our vanilla extract recipe is the reason our cakes, cookies, and assortment of desserts taste amazing. With this announcement, we are happy to announce that our first batch of bourbon barrel-aged Madagascar vanilla extract, PLUS ONE, is available for immediate purchase.

How do we make it?

Well, we cannot tell you exactly because it's our secret recipe, but we can tell you this:

Without sharing all the specifics of our recipe, it is important to note that the FDA requires a minimum of 13.4 ounces of vanilla beans for every one gallon of spirit. Our recipe exceeds 14 ounces of GRADE A vanilla beans for each gallon. The FDA also requires a minimum  ethyl alcohol by volume (abv) of 35%. - PLUS ONE has an ABV of 40%. By choosing to use a premium Kentucky bourbon for the extract medium, Turtles Bakeree recognizes the importance of using a premium ethyl alcohol instead of grain, or cane sugar based alcohol, which is considerably cheaper than the aged Bourbon that Turtles Bakeree uses.  By using a premium bourbon for our extraction process (matured in a white oak whiskey cask to aid in the enhancement process), we know with 100% certainty that our vanilla extract's flavor is not only enhanced, but it is authentic.

Our vanilla extract is meticulously hand-crafted using highly sought after GRADE A organic Madagascar Bourbon

(not to be confused with liquor) vanilla beans and Kentucky straight bourbon (to be confused with liquor) that is

ageda minimum of four years. The combination of a smooth, smoked whiskey flavor provided by the oak barrel

paired to a Kentucky Bourbon aged to perfection will surely satisfy the most discerning of home bakers.

Why PLUS ONE?

Some of our competitors sell you on the idea that a cold-filtered, or high heat extraction process (that can take

days, or up to a month) produces a superior vanilla extract to the time tested method of a slow extraction

process that Turtles Bakeree incorporates - we disagree, but you be the judge. To ensure we have maximized

the ultimate effects of vanilla extraction, and the documented hundreds of unique flavors of vanillin, Turtles

Bakeree does not mass produce, or rush our bourbon barrel-aged vanilla extract to market and in fact, just the

opposite.  366 days of extraction is the magic number we found (365 +1) and although the wait can be painfully

long, our PLUS ONE extraction process we find is well worth the wait - we hope you agree.

If you are looking for an off the shelf vanilla extract that is marketed to the masses based on volume and a

cheaper price, PLUS ONE vanilla extract is probably not for you. However, if you want a specially

hand-crafted, bespoke vanilla extract, and can appreciate why quality ingredients always matter in your

favorite recipe, we would appreciate your support of our family run business.  Thank you so much for

considering Turtles Bakeree as your local baker, and your supplier of PLUS ONE vanilla extract.
